My Story…
I have always loved storytelling. I grew up in a big family in a small town in upstate New York. We spent the summers at the cottage my grandfather built on the Finger Lakes. Every night, he would build a fire on the front lawn down by the water in an old tractor tire rim that he used as the fire pit. We’d sit around the fire in Adirondack chairs, toast marshmallows, and listen to stories. If the night was still and the water was calm, you could actually hear the voices drift across the water from those gathered around their campfires on the other side of the lake.
Stories have the power to entertain, inform, and inspire. They allow us to understand ourselves and each other better. There is power in words and magic in storytelling.
I have an MFA in creative writing from Florida International University. I’ve published three books: The Fisherman, A Crowded Loneliness: The story of loss, survival and resilience of a Peter Pan Child of Cuba, and W.H. Auden, Poetry, and Me: A 102-year-old reluctant poet reflects on life, poetry, and her famous teacher. My short story, Snapshots, was published in the Palm Circle Press Short Story Anthology 2021. The Rainy Night Stalker, a thriller, will soon be published. I live in a small town in upstate New York with my cat, Clive. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me learning to play the cello and searching for the perfect fish taco.
